I grabbed some newer drivers for the receiver off the Microsoft website and tried those. There are a few threads concerning this wireless adapter, but no definite solutions, and no threads involve Windows 8. I can find more details about it if needed, but it didn't work anyways and I'm back to the stock xusb21.inf file. I tried messing with the xusb21.inf file after seeing it suggested in another forum. I tried re-pairing the controller to the receiver at various points during the above steps, but the controller would not pair. I tried every other usb port I had, still code 10. I tried removing the device and reinstalling the driver from a clean slate. I tried reinstalling the driver and it started giving me "Code 10 'device cannot start'". I replaced controller batteries, still nothing. One day, after a restart perhaps, the controller wasn't working and Windows said the receiver isn't running properly. I paired the controller to the receiver and it worked perfectly.for a few days.
I had to try two different usb ports but it worked. I plugged it in, installed the drivers manually (Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version 2.).

For some reason Win10 recognizes the left thumbstick as the d-pad, which I hear is a common issue, but when I plug in other controllers and attempt the same operation, they behave as if artificially restricted to move in a circle within the input square above, as they should, and as if they are recognized as being limited to a circular input, whereas my new controller hits all four corners, like it's not a circular thumbstick.Hi y'all, first post here, so sorry if it's the wrong section or something. On top of this, the y and x axis of the right thumbstick seems out of whack too, as the vertical aiming is much more sensitive in comparison to the horizontal aiming. However, I load up Nioh, and immediately I notice that my player character is drifting a few degrees to the left, and it's as if the left thumbstick recognizes a change in angle of input every 10-15 degrees or so, which makes movement pretty imprecise. So the new one arrives, and I assumed it would be plug and play like the previous two controllers of the same model.
I recently bought an Xbox 360 Controller for Windows to replace a controller of the same model that has been wearing out, and experiencing a bit of the left thumbstick drift (I abhore the Xbone controllers)
